The work.

Every engagement is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Coaching, delivered by a former U.S. Army PSYOP Team Chief, ICF PCC, and doctoral researcher in Industrial-Organizational Psychology.

The methodology

Professionally
Certified Coaching
vs. Mentoring

ICF-Certified · PCC · Evidence-Based

Most coaching operates at the surface — it identifies goals, tracks accountability, and encourages reflection. That has limited utility for leaders operating under sustained pressure. Cognitive Behavioral Coaching works at a different level: it targets the thought patterns, core beliefs, and cognitive distortions that drive behavior before behavior ever appears. That is where durable change begins.

ICF-Certified CBC Coach
Uncertified / Conventional Coach
The target

The thought patterns and core beliefs driving behavior — addressed at the root

The target

Surface-level behavior and stated goals — no access to the cognitive layer underneath

The method

Structured cognitive restructuring — evidence-based, ICF-accredited, session by session

The method

Motivational conversation, journaling prompts, and accountability check-ins — no evidence-based framework

Credentials

ICF Professional Certified Coach (PCC) — 500+ supervised hours, ongoing continuing education required

Credentials

No licensing body, no minimum hours, no ethical oversight — anyone can call themselves a mentor

The result

Durable change in how you think, decide, and lead under pressure — long after the engagement ends

The result

Short-term clarity and momentum that fades when the sessions stop

Every Velanegra engagement is built on this foundation. The M.A.N.U. framework is the delivery structure. CBC is the engine. The methodology was not designed for comfortable conditions — it was built for the ones that are not.

Executive Coaching

01

Cognitive Leadership Coaching

One-on-one CBT-based coaching for executives, senior leaders, and high performers navigating high-stakes decisions, authority transitions, and sustained performance demands. Sessions identify the automatic thoughts and core beliefs that shape judgment under pressure — then apply structured cognitive restructuring to change them. The work is not motivational. It is clinical in its precision and measurable in its outcomes. Leaders who complete this engagement do not simply feel more confident. They think differently, decide more effectively, and lead with greater psychological discipline.

Bi-weekly 60-min sessions · 3 or 6-month engagements · ICF-certified

02

Leadership Identity Coaching

Leadership behavior follows identity. When the internal narrative — the beliefs a leader holds about their own authority, competence, and right to lead — is misaligned with the demands of the role, performance suffers regardless of skill or experience. This engagement uses cognitive behavioral techniques to identify and restructure the distorted beliefs, avoidance patterns, and self-limiting frameworks that quietly undermine leadership effectiveness. The work is structured, direct, and built on the understanding that sustainable leadership change begins at the level of identity, not behavior.

Weekly 60-min sessions · 3-month minimum · Assessment-led intake

03

Group Coaching & Workshops

Facilitated group engagements for leadership teams, executive cohorts, and organizational units. Grounded in CBT principles applied at the collective level — surfacing shared cognitive distortions, misaligned mental models, and the group narratives that stall execution and fragment accountability. Drawing on principles from Industrial-Organizational Psychology and behavioral science, these sessions are designed to shift how teams think together, not just how they communicate. Available in English and Spanish.

04

Team Cohesion Coaching

Dysfunctional team dynamics are not a culture problem — they are a cognitive problem. Blame cycles, status threats, trust deficits, and misaligned mental models are the product of identifiable thought patterns operating at the group level. Research estimates that disengagement and talent attrition cost organizations 20–34% of an employee's annual salary per departure. This engagement uses CBT-based group coaching to identify and dismantle the cognitive patterns fragmenting team performance — and replace them with the shared frameworks, psychological safety, and behavioral discipline required for sustained high-performance execution.

Team assessment · Group sessions · 60–90 day engagements · English and Spanish

05

Conflict Resolution Coaching

Unresolved conflict between leaders does not stay contained. It degrades decision quality, erodes organizational trust, and accelerates talent attrition. Research estimates that U.S. employees spend nearly three hours per week managing workplace conflict — a figure that translates to significant productivity loss in any mid-size organization. This engagement works directly with the individuals in conflict using structured cognitive behavioral techniques to surface the underlying beliefs driving the friction, rebuild functional working relationships, and establish the behavioral agreements required to prevent recurrence. This is not mediation. It is targeted cognitive work with lasting organizational outcomes.

1:1 and joint sessions · Structured intake · Confidential · English and Spanish
